In addition to the paid tour, large displays about the submarine can be seen free of charge. Since I had some experience with coal mining, the mine tour didn’t impress me as much as it probably would many others.

Furthermore, I could easily have devoted another full day to the museum without seeing it all. when the doors opened and remained till the closing time of 5:30 p.m. I enjoyed visiting it on Sunday, June 19th, 2022. The Chicago Museum of Science and Industry is a huge museum with a variety of things that can appeal to persons of various ages from young children to senior citizens. I probably spent 2.5 hours total in the entire submarine exhibit, so the trip was worth that for me. I only paid for the submarine experience, which I loved, but left shortly after. All of the more adult interested activities are considered “experiences” which are behind a pay wall. It was well worth it! As for the rest of the museum, it is a pretty interactive children’s museum. I highly recommend purchasing the U-505 experience that takes you through the captured submarine. My group asked a lot of questions, and he had answers for everything. My tour guide, Chris, was extremely knowledgeable. My tour time was about an hour and 15 minutes after I arrived, which was the perfect amount of time to go through the U-505 exhibit.
When I bought my ticket at the museum, I added the U-505 experience, which is an extra cost. I went to this museum not really knowing what to expect but knowing based on reviews I should take the guided tour of the submarine.
